Animal husbandry is an integral component of agriculture, supporting livelihood of more than two-thirds of the rural population. This sector has become one among the fast developing sectors of the State. It plays a significant role in the rural economy by providing gainful employment to a large number of small, marginal farmers and landless agricultural labourers and raising their economic status. Livestock form an important resource for the landless agricultural labourer as it is the only major asset for them.
Mobile Veterinary Units are established to increase the accessibility of veterinary services to the remote villages. The Call centre with toll free number 1962 are functioning 24 X 7 and will direct the Mobile Veterinary Units during the operation hours.
